Tear Trough Treatment
A Fix for Tear Troughs
Humans are capable of expressing a wide variety of emotions, and the human face plays a critical role in that. Over time, however, aging can take a toll on the face, and the ability to express emotions intentionally can be diminished. One area of the face particularly prone to such developments is what is known as the “tear trough.” The tear trough is the area beneath your eyes where tears roll down (hence the name). Your tear trough is usually a subtle landmark and marker of the face; not noticeable but present But over time, for a variety of factors, this line can become darker and look more entrenched. Patient with a prominent tear trough deformity, complain of dark circles or hollowness under their eyes. They often appear more tired or sad and become aggravated as nothing seems hide the issue (not even makeup!). In these cases, patients might seek out a tear trough treatment in order to alleviate these symptoms.
Non invasive, non surgical tear trough treatments can take several forms, although they usually consist of injections with dermal fillers or even a purified form of your own body fat (called a fat graft procedure). The reason to add volume back to this area with dermal fillers or fat is due to the fact that the tear trough deformity is caused by a loss or lack of volume. As you age, the skin around your eyes begins to thin, making your eyes appear more sunken, fatigued, and aged. By replacing the lack of volume with dermal fillers or fat, you treat the cause and remove the deformity altogether.
If you are unhappy with the appearance of your tear trough, or you feel as though your tear trough makes your entire face appear more aged, contact the Sanctuary Cosmetic Center to schedule a consultation with Dr. Rostami or Dr. Nazemzadeh to see what non invasive tear trough treatments can do for you.

How Does Tear Trough Treatment Work?
Most non invasive approaches to tear trough treatment will feature a filler of some kind. The filler favored at the Sanctuary Cosmetic Center include Restylane, although some patients pursue a fat graft option (a fat graft approach requires liposuction). Whether you choose Restylane or fat for your tear trough treatment, the approach is very similar. Dr. Rostami or Dr. Nazemzadeh will select the appropriate site for an injection in order to reduce the dark circles under your eyes. The injections are then performed in less than thirty minutes!
Patients generally see results immediately after the injection is completed, , though collagen released by the dermal filler will continue to rejuvenate the area for some time. Dermal fillers are an excellent option because they are incredibly safe and restore the volume in the area beneath the eye, giving a more youthful and freshened look. The results from this type of non invasive tear trough treatment generally lasts around 12 months, however if you like the results you can get regular maintenance injections in order to maintain your youthful new look.
