Brow Lift – Local Anesthesia
Wrinkles have a habit of forming in a wide variety of places as we age. But one thing that we’ve noticed is that the more an area of skin is used, the more likely it is to develop lines and wrinkles. Your forehead, for example, is a vital part of almost every facial expression you’ll make throughout your life; whether you’re happy, sad, frustrated or apprehensive, your forehead takes some small part in that facial expression. In addition, to lines and wrinkles, your forehead and brow descend with age, giving the eyes a more crowded and tired appearance.
That’s one reason why a brow lift is a widely popular procedure. Brow lift procedures are designed to restore a look of youthfulness to the forehead, brow, and eye areas without sacrificing any of that expressiveness. A brow lift, in addition, will open up the eyes and give the face a well-rested and vibrant appearance.
At Sanctuary Cosmetic Center, Dr. Rostami and Dr. Nazemzadeh perform a brow lift with local anesthesia, offering their patients a way to remove lines and wrinkles from the forehead area while lifting heavy and low brows. A brow lift with local anesthesia is usually accompanied by low discomfort and a speedy recovery and patients can generally return to normal activity after 1 to 2 weeks. If you’re interested in what this procedure can do for you–and how it can help your brows, your eyes, and your face look more youthful, contact our facial plastic surgery experts, to schedule a confidential consultation and get started on your transformation.
What is a Brow Lift with Local Anesthesia?
A brow lift can have very powerful results in the face. It can successfully remove lines, wrinkles, and lift the brows, restoring the face to its more youthful and natural state. As such, a full facelift isn’t necessarily the best procedure for every patient. Instead, some patients will benefit more from subtle, more targeted procedures such as a brow lift.
During a brow lift with local anesthesia, surgeons will make incisions that are only half an inch to one inch in length. This less invasive approach means that local anesthetic can be used during the procedure, promoting rapid healing and recovery.
The Benefits of a Brow Lift with Local Anesthesia
In fact, there are many benefits to a brow lift with local anesthesia. These benefits include the following:
- Relatively quick recovery period
- Less invasive approach means there is less discomfort to manage
- The procedure can be accomplished relatively quickly (especially compared to a normal facelift procedure)
- A brow lift with local anesthesia can eliminate forehead lines and wrinkles, significantly reduce frown lines and achieve a lifting effect to the brows
- This procedure can make the entire face look more youthful
- Removing lines and wrinkles from around the forehead can make the eyes look less angry or tired
- Patients love the results of this procedure, leading to higher self-esteem and self-confidence
- The overall effect is that the face looks more youthful and rejuvenated
The Brow Lift with Local Anesthesia Procedure
A brow lift with local anesthesia is performed in a manner very similar to a mini-facelift with local anesthesia. Patients are given a mild sedative and local anesthesia. Once those two elements have taken effect, Dr. Nazemzadeh or Dr. Rostami will make a number of small incisions around the forehead (usually, these incisions are made towards the outside of the forehead, but not always). The incisions are strategically placed so that that the scars are not visible. Once the incisions are made, excess skin and tissue can be removed from the forehead. A brow lift can also be performed with internal sutures (sutures under the skin), where the incisions are hidden along the natural eyelid crease. This internal or indirect method is a great choice for patients with less brow decent requiring less lift.
Once the procedure is complete, the patient is allowed to return home for the duration of recovery. Brow lift with local anesthesia is performed on an outpatient basis, often at the Northern Virginia surgical suite offered by Sanctuary Cosmetic Center. This makes a brow lift with local anesthesia both effective and convenient for our Washington DC area brow lift patients.
Brow Lift Results and Recovery
Once your brow lift is complete, you will be allowed to return home for recovery. Although recovery varies depending on the patient, the primary recovery process will take between one and two weeks with most patients feeling comfortable going out in public after a week. Most patients experience swelling and bruising immediately after the procedure, which should subside after a few days.
Once recovery is complete, patients will really notice the results of their brow lift procedure. Forehead lines and wrinkles are visibly diminished, frown lines are reduced and eyebrows are lifted. The face overall looks much more youthful, which can make the eyes look happier and more vibrant. Patients often remark that they feel happier and younger after a brow lift noting in particular an increase in self-esteem and confidence. These results help make brow lift with local anesthesia a very popular procedure.
